Bishop of North Ankore Diocese Commends Media for Promoting Good Works
Yesterday, on May 1st, 2024, at the Canon Buningwire Guest House in Rushere town, the Right Reverend Steven Namanya, Bishop of North Ankore Diocese, extended his appreciation to local media and journalists for their collaborative efforts in disseminating information about the positive endeavors undertaken within the region.
Addressing journalists from three radio stations operating within the North Ankore Diocese, Bishop Namanya emphasized the significant influence wielded by the media, highlighting the importance of mindful communication. He underscored the need for words to carry meaning, truth, and hope, cautioning against the pitfalls of succumbing to detrimental influences that could compromise journalistic integrity and personal well-being.
In response, journalists expressed gratitude for the Bishop’s gesture in convening the gathering, acknowledging its unprecedented nature within the diocese. The luncheon served as a platform for constructive dialogue and camaraderie, fostering closer ties between the religious community and the media fraternity.
Amidst the proceedings, Bishop Namanya took the opportunity to announce the forthcoming consecration of Reverend Canon Alfred and Molly Muhoozi as the 3rd Bishop of North Ankore Diocese, scheduled for May 26th, 2024. The ceremony, slated to be attended by dignitaries including President Kaguta Museveni and Archbishop Steven Kazimba Mugalu, is anticipated to be a momentous occasion. With over 37 Bishops from across the country confirming their attendance, the event holds significant importance within the ecclesiastical landscape.
The Bishop urged media houses and journalists to leverage their platforms to disseminate information about the consecration ceremony, inviting the community at large to partake in the celebration.
The gathering concluded with a renewed commitment from journalists to uphold the principles of responsible journalism and collaborate with the diocese in spreading positive messages within society.
