Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says the arrest took place at the Busunju Police checkpoint on February 2, 2024.

Moses Kagasha, a 30-year-old cattle dealer from Nakakabala village, Buwunga sub-county in Kiboga district, has been arrested in a crackdown by Wamala region Police and Busunju Central Police Station.

Kagasha was apprehended over allegedly transporting 15 head of cattle from a quarantine area in Kiboga without the required written permission from the Commissioner of Livestock and Entomology.

Police spokesperson Fred Enanga says the arrest took place at the Busunju Police checkpoint on February 2, 2024, with the impounding of the motor vehicle Canter with registration number UBN310P.

He says the intercepted cows were examined by the Veterinary Officer of Busunju town council and subsequently returned to Kiboga.

Additionally, in a separate operation, territorial teams in Kumi, including the deputy chief administrative officer, Resident District Commissioner and Police, blocked the movement of cattle in several Fuso trucks under registration numbers UBN 156M, UBL 752G and UAX 451T.

“Authorities emphasize the importance of cattle farmers within quarantine areas adhering to regulations and urge the public to remain vigilant,” Enanga said.

He added that citizens are encouraged to promptly report any movement of cattle, as well as their products and byproducts, to the nearest police or responsible veterinary personnel.
