Kiruhura registers low turn up of learners as first term enters fourth day.

There is still low turn up of learners in kiruhura district more especially in government schools.

The Kiruhura District Education Officer,Mrs Merambu Busingye attribute the low turn up on the outbreak of Foot and Mouth Disease which have left parents with no way of taking their children to school.

Speaking at headteacher’s meeting held at Kashwa Church Of Uganda primary school in Kiruhura town council,Mrs.Merambu said the turn up of learners in government schools stands at 37 percent.

She has advised parents to start thinking of doing another economic activity which can enable them to have school fees to take their children back to school.

Kiruhura district is having 74 government primary schools

Of recently Kiruhura Resident District Commissioner Mr.George Bakunda said that they will launch an operation next week to arrest parents who have still refused to send their children to school in line with the district education ordinance which is against denying children study opportunities.
